About

I graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics with a minor in Computers and the Humanities in April 2008. I have studied both French and American Sign Language and am fairly proficient in each.

Computer Experience

Computers have interested me for a very long time. As a child I spent hours in front of our family’s computer making Powerpoint Presentations (this was long before I knew that there would actually be such a thing as web design when I got older) for make believe companies or any reason I could think of. I started learning to program during my junior year of high school with Visual Basic 6.0. I found I had an aptitude for it and quickly fell in love with it. When I was sixteen I started working for Healthcare Clinical Consultants (now Theronyx) a company that makes clinical software for respiratory therapists. I worked there through the remainder of high school and sporadically through my first couple years of college. After taking a couple of web programming classes at BYU I went back on a more permanent basis as their webmaster. I have also worked as an independent contractor on The Pearson’s website, and currently have other projects in progress. You can see those projects by following the links in the “my stuff” box. I am proficient in HTML, Javascript, CSS, PHP, and MySQL. I am currently working as part of the developers team at Axis41 – an advertising company in Salt Lake City that creates websites for our clients as a major portion of our business. I enjoy doing freelance projects, design is not my strong point, but I am very comfortable with implementing other people’s designs and have a network of people who do great design work. Interests

In addition to computers I have many varied interests including hiking, camping, theater, reading, card games, dancing and traveling. My traveling opportunities were expanded greatly when I became a theater technician for the BYU Young Ambassadors during my freshman year. I quickly found it to be a passion of mine and toured with them for the next four years. Between my tours with the Young Ambassadors and travel with my family I have visited many different countries, including:

  • Canada
  • Australia
  • Japan
  • Mexico
  • Brazil
  • Argentina
  • Hong Kong
  • China
  • South Korea
  • New Zealand
  • France

I hope to be able to further expand my traveling in the future. My husband and I are looking to be moving to China in the next several years.
