I totally agree with you! Don't worry I'm not giving up on the Old Testament, just taking a break for a bit :) I'm reading the Book of Mormon stories reader with my toddler and then listening to Conference talks for my personal study. I think once I get through all of the conference talks from this last conference I'll dive back in. At first I wasn't going to let myself stop for anything, but I think this is probably more beneficial for me to not feel like I have to stay in the Old Testament so that I can really enjoy it. I have learned SO much from the bit of the Old Testament that I did get through and I'm excited to get back in, but I'm glad I've allowed myself to take a time out for now.

Thank you so much for sharing your testimony. The Book of Mormon is truely an amazing book-- one of a kind. But don't give up on the Old Testament just yet! Keep trucking through it. There is SO MUCH to understand in there and if you understand the Old Testament (especially those first 5 books) you will understand everything in the gospel, temple and scriptures so much better. And it does get easier to understand the more times you have read it. The first few times I read it I had no idea what I was reading in some parts (especially in Kings and Chronicles :) but now after reading it so much it is starting to make more sense. You could try reading both at once and when you get exhausted with the Old Testament hop back to the Book of Mormon to rejuvenate and then go back in. They bear testimony of each other and it is amazing to see that!

Brittny- I totally identify with you. I spent years trying to read the Old Testament. I'd read for a few months with the institute manual too and then just needed more spirit in my life, so I'd go to the BOM or D&C, then back to the OT. In reality I haven't completely read it. The Bible dictionary tells us that the Song of Solomon is not really scripture and that the Proverbs are at best worldly wisdom, but Psalms breath the highest form of prayer. Those are the 3 books I have not read. You can see that I have jumped around. But I find that as I read the OT, the parts I have read, I understand more. I love the stories, but it's not always full of the stories. There is a blog about finding Christ in the Old Testament. http://guardianguideandstay.blogspot.com/
That you might like. Keep working on it- little bit at a time.
